Bibles!

Ya'll should read yours! Not that you don't, or more, not like I know whether or not you do, but regardless, I'm just saying you should. :) But what's up with this out of me all of a sudden? Well, I've been reading my Bible more recently for school assignments and stuff, and it's just a marvelous book that should be read frequently and fervently. And in case you know which classes I'm taking (none of them are Bible classes), I've been reading the Bible because of school because any sort of philosophical argument seems baseless and irrelivant without some sort of Biblical support to me.

One of my favorite things to do is look through the Gospels to find a page of mostly red, and read through it whilst looking up the OT references. :D It's remarkable what you'll find. For example, Isaiah chapter 56 just blew me away when I read it. To jsut sort of find that kind of thing in the OT was very supprising. :)

Another thing that is kind of cool. On TCS, a discussion came up about Todd Bentley. The whole, "is he a Christian?" discussion is not what I'm going to get into, just so you know. But rather, Mr. Bentley supposedly said, "Miracles and healings are evidence. They are signs of the Kingdom, and if we don't have signs then all we have is a bunch of theology." This, of course, is a rather startling statement. Anyway, soon after reading this, I was reading Psalm 19 again (one of my favorites) and I was particularly struck by verses 7-11. They are as follows:

"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward."

The last bit, "Moreover by them Your servant is warned" drove home to me why theology is so important. Without this theology, how do we know what miracles and signs are? How do we know what the kingdom is? Anyway, that was my little insight into Psalm 19. Oh, and it made me think of Mark 13:5. When Jesus' disciples ask him (in different words), when the end times will come, He replies, "Take heed that no one deceives you." This whole thing made me think of that verse just because it's been established that knowing God's word is how to not be deceived. :)

Well, I hope that wasn't too long and boring! ;) Have a great day, and read those Bibles! Yay!
