"My heart stands in awe of Your word. I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure," (Psalm 119:161b-162).
Truly the Bible is a joyous and wonderful book that expounds to us the joys and wonders of God. Truly it is something living that God has given us to tell us His thoughts and feelings. Gah! I can't even express it in words! You all must read psalm 119. It's very amazing. :D
However, this is not what I was going to write about. :) I'll get to the point now. Here's the story: the past couple of weeks I've been reading Macbeth for English, and I am now having to write an essay. Ironically enough, I am doing my essay on the subject of blood, and more specifically, all the terrible things that result from the wrongful spilling of blood. Thus, I wanted to see what the Bible had to say on the subject, so I did a search in psalms of the word "wicked," and I ended up reading Psalm 34. These verses in particular stuck me,
"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken." (verses 17-20)
When I read, "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit." I thought to myself, "there have definately been times when reading that would have been a great encouragement." Then, in a blinding wonderful burst of realization, it came to me that if there have been times when I've been "crushed in spirit," but now I'm not, then the LORD did save me! Reading that was reading a promise fulfilled in my own life! It was about the most amazing thing ever! Oh! I should also note that for a while now, if I've got a lot of stress about something, I've been reading the Bible and praying for God's help. Right now I am living proof that He has, and that those verse are true. :D Realizing that was one of the most incredibly joyous and wonderful thing that's happened to me. :D It gives me incredible confidence in the Bible, and I now know that I will always be able to look back at that passage and know that it is true, and know that God will keep His word. :D
There, among the entertaining trivialities, I have now made three meaningful posts. ;)

lol What? Blogs aren't meant to be meaningful. ;)
But seriously, it is always really cool to see God working directly in your life. It's like we know He can, but to actually see it is something totally different. And very, very cool.
As a side note, which version is that? Do you usually use that version?
lol I know, I know. I'll try to keep the only meaningful posts theological. ;)
Indeed. And this is one of the first times I've recognized it too in like, a significant way. So, that's just very neat for me. :)
I believe it's the NIV, and I do frequently use it. It's the translation that my Bible is, though I do often read verses in at least the NKJV if I'm studying it. I was going to post it in the KJV, but it didn't have the word "crushed" in it, which is what brought me to the realization I had, so I figured I'd put it in that translation.
My side note this time, why are you a KJV only person? I've always kind of wondered how you support that the the KJ Bible is the word of God in English.

Hehe. Good. It is probably the most meaningful topic.
I'm happy for you. :D
