So I've found this amazing new thing: I believe it's called a cold. Yes, that's right. I've come down with a full fledged, no holds barred, cold. It started last Wednesday when I noticed a tiny little thing in the back of my throat that was making me cough some. From that point on my voice got progressively worse until Friday night at which point I could barely talk. However, that was about the only symptom, and since it had come pretty quickly I was hoping it'd go pretty quickly too. . . . .nope. On Saturday, my voice was feeling a bit better, or at least working a bit better. That's about all that happened that day. On Sunday, however, I landed myself with a stuffy nose and have had it since. Have you ever heard that the nasal cavities are large? This is true. Between Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, I feel as though I've dredged about three gallons of snot out of my nose and throat (that is, one gallon for each day). It's really gross to say the least, though I'm sure that's something you picked up on. Aside: last night I dreamed we had eggnog. Anyway. . .
At the moment I also feel somewhat sick to my stomach, and have come close to vomiting a number of times. This is certainly not because there is actually something wrong with my stomach, but because I have been coughing so much it has been riled. This also started to develop on Sunday, though it did not really hit hard until Monday. Grr, hold on a moment while I go blow my nose. :-S . . . . . . . .Don't worry, nothing major. Only a little driblet that time. ;) Where was I? Oh yes, and then on Monday, more or less the whole day (and now on Tuesday too), I've been wracked by rather violent coughing. But here is what is most frustrating: I feel as though there is a little piece of something stuck in a fold in my throat right near my epiglottis, but since Wednesday when I first felt it, it won't come out. It is incredibly agrevating, and I am sure that it is what is causing the coughing. However, I've no way to know if there's actually something there or if it's just, oh I don't know, some kind of sore or something.
I've also missed a good number of things since becomming ill. They include, work (Saturday), church, piano lesson and fencing (both on Monday). I'm probably not going to make it to fencing this week, but oh well. I wouldn't want to get anyone else sick, or stress my body and thereby slow down its recovery. So there you have it! A brief (sort of) chronical of my cold in non-technical terms. :D I hope you all enjoyed it, and aren't you all glad I didn't use the, "enough to feed an army" anaolgy to describe how mucy snot I've been pumping out of my head? ;)
Have a great Thanksgiving, and please don't get sick!

Yay!!
"My heart stands in awe of Your word. I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure," (Psalm 119:161b-162).
Truly the Bible is a joyous and wonderful book that expounds to us the joys and wonders of God. Truly it is something living that God has given us to tell us His thoughts and feelings. Gah! I can't even express it in words! You all must read psalm 119. It's very amazing. :D
However, this is not what I was going to write about. :) I'll get to the point now. Here's the story: the past couple of weeks I've been reading Macbeth for English, and I am now having to write an essay. Ironically enough, I am doing my essay on the subject of blood, and more specifically, all the terrible things that result from the wrongful spilling of blood. Thus, I wanted to see what the Bible had to say on the subject, so I did a search in psalms of the word "wicked," and I ended up reading Psalm 34. These verses in particular stuck me,
"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken." (verses 17-20)
When I read, "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit." I thought to myself, "there have definately been times when reading that would have been a great encouragement." Then, in a blinding wonderful burst of realization, it came to me that if there have been times when I've been "crushed in spirit," but now I'm not, then the LORD did save me! Reading that was reading a promise fulfilled in my own life! It was about the most amazing thing ever! Oh! I should also note that for a while now, if I've got a lot of stress about something, I've been reading the Bible and praying for God's help. Right now I am living proof that He has, and that those verse are true. :D Realizing that was one of the most incredibly joyous and wonderful thing that's happened to me. :D It gives me incredible confidence in the Bible, and I now know that I will always be able to look back at that passage and know that it is true, and know that God will keep His word. :D
There, among the entertaining trivialities, I have now made three meaningful posts. ;)

Blizzard
Unfortunately, I have no news about new games, but rather that it was snowing rather hard here for a while today. It really was coming down very hard, and some of it even managed to stick to the ground. Not a terribly encouraging sight to one who has two driveways to shovel during the winter. :P But oh well, I'll survive, and I certainly didn't have to do any work due to this snow. In the end it didn't amount to more than a light dusting. The temperature has been relatively low recently too. It's even been getting down into the thirties during the day, and (obviously) colder during the night. I'm rather hoping that there isn't any snow in earnest for a while yet. But so long as the internet keeps working I don't mind getting snowed in. ;) Just kidding. That would suck. Anyway, seeing as how I was on the topic of blizzards, I thought I'd post a poem a wrote a year or two ago on the subject. Here it is!
A Winter’s Morning
By Aaron Finley
In the frost bitten dead of night,
The wind, it blows with all its might.
Dawn came with never any glow
Since snowy clouds were hanging low.
Still, wind froze giving no delight.
In my house sealed snug and tight
I sip hot tea and smile at fright.
The cold cannot get me I know,
In my warm home.
Here there is a wonderful sight.
Wind outside that could give frostbite.
I drink in warmth, I am below
A roof through which no wind can blow.
There is no cold that tea cannot fight
In my warm home.

Got 'er Done
I've finally come up with the ending to my piece. There are one or two little rough spots that still need some smoothing out (and some that don't. . .hehe), but it's pretty much finished. :D Also, it has a happy ending which I think works very nicely after the rather turbulent and dark second half of the piece. There isn't a terribly large amount of happy material in the thing, but it wins out in the end. :) I'm also excited that I managed to stuff two cadenzas into the piece. But don't worry, they're not very difficult. I just need to work out a good fingering for the second one. :P I'm also quite happy with the left hand that I came up with for the second to last section. It sounds much better than what I had planned out originally, and it's easier too--my favorite combination. Hmm, I think that of the people I would send this to, only Varda reads this blog for sure, so Jenn, once I get it written up I'm going to need your help looking for typos since I'll often have to be writing the music in the wrong clef and asking the performer to read the music in the other clef. :P Also, since I wrote the piece it'll be hard for me to look at and play what I've written instead of what I know should be there, so, I'm depending one you! (and everyone else even thought they're likely not reading this hehe) Anyway, I should be going now, so, have a great day, and a merry new, um, more of today!

Really Odd
Something very strange just happened to me. I was sitting in the office readying my physics lesson, when suddenly my phone buzzed (vibrated really, but you get the picture). Anyway, it meant I had received a text message. I don't have texting, and therefore don't really do it, but I do get them from time to time. I figured it was from my brother or something, but it turns out it's from some mysterious sender. I was unable to dig a number out of it, and since I couldn't reply I assume one wasn't sent. Here is the message exactly:
From: Unknown
Message: hola. i heard about you, and i wanted to say hi. Umm, I'm kinda unsure, so maybe you come check me out online. I have a profile at friends-box.org
End
I am now wondering if there is phone-spamming beginning, because that is almost what this seems like. The cryptic knowledge of me, inconsistent capitalization, and lack of any way to identify this person are all very suspicious. Either this person assumes I already know about him/her, he/she is slightly less than intelligent, or it is some generic ploy to get me to look at friends-box.org. Btw, I went to the site, and to get in you have to be a member and over 18. Leery of those requirements, the fact that I've never heard of the site, and since I had no way to find this person, I certainly did not sign up. Anyway, there's nothing really I can do except imagine wild and improbable things about crazy ninja skills and alien invasions unless SeƱior "unsure" gives me something to work with other than an advertisement. But I thought it was interesting enough to tell the lot of you about it. :) If I'm abducted, or something exciting like that happens I'll be sure to blog about it at my first opportunity. ;)

November
Well, it is now November. A month in which many important things will happen. For example, the 2008 presidential election. Also, this month holds in store several birthdays for my family, and for everyone, Thanksgiving. I haven't really worked on my composition in a while, though I did change the L.H. for the last bit that I have written out, and I like it more. The one I had previously was to busy and muddy sounding. Oh! And I just had a cool idea for it. :) Anyway, I've got the A section written up, so I ought to be sending that out to all your musical people I know. My RPG is also moving along nicely, though I seriously need to hammer out some details for the plot line and get something a tad more specific planned out, though of course I do not want to plan things out too carefully or I may find myself guilty of railroading. I've also done some more drawing recently, and I'm quite happy with several of them. I need to get them on the computer and update my facebook album. :P I've been going through the Wheel of Time series on my mp3 player, and it's pretty sweet. In the evening, or while I'm mowing and so forth I can pop that in and listen to it. Oh! I don't know if any of you have heard of it, but the movie Fearless with Jet Li is amazing! The trailers make it looks like just a fighting movie, and while the fighting is cool, the storyline and characters are the focus of the movie. I highly recommend it. That is so long as you don't mind reading subtitles. The movie is in Chinese, but I did not think it detracted at all. Anyway, that is mostly what has been going on with me of late, so yeah! There you have it.
